Wild Horses!

A few weeks ago we went with some friends to Cape Shiriya. It was about a 2 1/2 hour drive north. This Cape is famous for wild horses. These horses have been here for a long time and no one owns them. Many tourists obviously feed them though because they are fat!

See the horse at the top of the right hand side of the map? That's where we went.

Christine named the horse Lippy because he had huge lips  and covered your whole hand when you feed him.
They have lots of grass to eat - but winter is coming and I think they are stocking up!

The beautiful ocean!

Our friends: Brian, Christine and Ethan

Look how fat he is!

One last carrot for Lippy!

This was our view from our picnic spot.
Stop! Don't swim!!! ( I think that is what it says!)

Japanese Dancers!

Video of traditional Japanese dancers and Taiko drummers from the Takko Town Beef and Garlic Festival.

Beef & Garlic Festival

Takko Town is the home of the Beef & Garlic Festival. Takko Town produces the largest amount of garlic in all of Japan so why not celebrate!

Some Japanese kids doing  a little dance.

Donuts on a stick.

We ate some of the meat from this huge cow - it was very yummy!

You pay for uncooked beef and vegetables and then you cook them over a grill table.

Craig cooking our beef and veggies!

YUM!

Garlic Princesses!

Statue of Liberty Park

About 20 minutes from here is the Statue of Liberty Park. It is the same latitude as New York City and the statue is about 1/4 the actual size. It was in a really nice park!

Hello Lady Liberty!!

Yup that's me down there!

I'm pretty sure the State of Liberty in New York doesn't have Japanese on it!

Ummm, I guess you shouldn't swim in that lake!

Same Latitude.

Hachinohe Fish Market

We went to a fish market in Hachinohe ( a town about 30 mins. south of Misawa). Hachinohe is a coastal city located on the Pacific Ocean, therefore the fish are very fresh!

Squid

Not sure what these are!

Look at those fish eyes staring back at you!

These crabs were still crawling - now that is fresh!
